What is happening in Communications?

The MidSouth GMC wants to connect with each person in the sanctuaries across the Conference.
Whether you are clergy, laity, or of any generational age group, our desire is for you to be a part of God’s work across the five states we call the MidSouth. To assist in this, we are introducing Printed Connections, a monthly printable bulletin. Many people prefer print media and miss holding information in their hands. Our aim is to unify the MidSouth message across a variety of online platforms as well as printed tools of communication as options for local churches. In whatever medium one prefers, we hope to bring the work of the Conference into the daily lives of congregation members so that they can be a part of the collective mission of the Global Methodist Church.
Our Communications Committee first came together as a small group of three in April 2024 with us growing now to five members. We have created a foundation for communication with a focus on consistency across the website, email newsletter, and two social media platforms (Instagram & Facebook). Building this foundation first was necessary, but we also want you to know…

To direct our efforts, the committee has created a Ministry Action Plan to lay out the upcoming year. Included on the next page is a small sampling of what communications has done since mid-May and, again, a sampling of what is planned for the coming quarter. It is our hope that this will relate our goal to communicate across many avenues for all types of people for a variety of needs. The reality is, not only are there generations we need to connect with who prefer print items and may struggle with digital platforms, we also have younger generations who no longer use Facebook, Instagram, or email and have moved on to new modes of communication. To believe that a few posts on a couple social media platforms is sufficient communication is to ignore entire groups of people… So we can assure that this is not the belief the communications team holds.
Communication takes time and we are building quickly while also taking time to make it cohesive, professional, well-branded, and more importantly, focused on the work of ministry in the Church for the world in line with God’s purposes for His people. We want you to know that we take this seriously to provide connection across the Conference so that the people of God are working collectively in mission. We will keep working and expanding our communication efforts as we develop the MidSouth Conference into a source of God’s word for all the people.
