We believe in the importance and the power of prayer. To bring the people of the MidSouth together in prayer, we host weekly online prayer gatherings. We want to invite you to participate in these as you cultivate a Christian life steeped in prayer.

OUR PRAYER WORK
Prayer Needs Locally & Globally
We want to be a denomination focused on prayer as the work of God's people participating in His mission. This means keeping our Annual Conference and denomination covered in prayer as we seek God's will for the work of the Church in the world. Each month we publish prayer lists so that the body of Christ can join in unison as we lift up our petitions to the Lord.
“This is what the Lord says, he who made the earth, the Lord who formed it and
established it—the Lord is his name: ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell
you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’
Jeremiah 33: 2-3
KINGDOM OF GOD PRAYERS
- Pray for the Annual Conferences yet to be held throughout the world; pray for God's will to be done and awakening to breakout.
- Pray for the Christian movement in throughout the 10/40 Window that they will continue to grow and that God will give them His peace through the persecution.
- Pray for God to raise up men and women of faith to take the message of Jesus Christ to places where the Gospel is not allowed.
- Pray that God will soften the hearts and minds of Muslim people to the message of Jesus Christ.
- Ask God to give us a burden to pray for the one billion to come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior.
- Ask God to give the people in the MidSouth Conference the courage to be with Jesus and spread the message of Jesus to our communities and around the world.
- Pray that Spiritual Holiness will become a focus for every Christian in the world and let it begin with each of us that we would become more like Jesus every day.
These are some big prayers to ask of our Father, but we are assured that the same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is available to us today. Do you believe that? How big is your God? John 14:12-14 says:
"I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it."
MIDSOUTH AC PRAYER NEEDS
- Lift up our New Church Plant pastors in over 20 locations in the MidSouth Conference. Contact Rev. Dr. Brian Ebel, the chair of the Church Multiplication team, to learn more.
- Pray for wisdom & insight for the MidSouth Prayer Team as they work with Rev. Dr. Steve Seamands on a prayer webinar on Sept. 15th. Learn more here.
- Pray for President Trump and our leaders in Washington DC as they navigate the conflict in Iran and the challenges facing our nation — that their decisions would reflect God's wisdom for the welfare of all people in our nation and peace among all nations.
- Pray for our communications leaders as they deal with hard issues every day and keep us informed of new developments through email and the website.
- Pray for the new congregations added to MidSouth Conference.
- Pray for our approved GMC cross cultural missionaries(opens in new tab) as they reach others in lands very different from our own.
- Pray about your church becoming an Acts 1:8 Mission Church. Set the goal and gain the Acts 1:8 award(opens in new tab). See details in this link.
- Pray for the continued outpouring of the Holy Spirit across the MidSouth.
- Pray for our MidSouth Conference leadership by name(opens in new tab).
- Pray for those in the UM Central Conferences who are still making decisions of allegiance or disaffiliation.
- Pray that all our members learn about our adopted Book of Doctrines and Discipline(opens in new tab) so that we will live them out in unity for the glory of God.
- Pray for the Holy Spirit to raise up Prayer Point Leaders for every congregation to create and lead intentional, on-going prayer ministry for the glory of our Creator God. If you are a member of a local GMC and desire to be a part of your church’s prayer team, let your Prayer Point Leader know or tell your pastor.
GM CHURCH PRAYER NEEDS
Our Strategic Prayer Team does a good job of posting weekly concerns that come from various sources including the Assembly of Bishops. Go to the GMC Prayer Page(opens in new tab) for the latest prayer concerns.
- Pray for the a Holy Spirit led future for the GMC.
- Pray for our 9 Bishops(opens in new tab) by name to be filled with Godly wisdom.
- Pray for every GMC to engage in and enjoy an intentional prayer ministry to the extent that your church will be known as a “House of Prayer!”
- Pray for the expanding global presence of the GMC. Find a church: See the Map(opens in new tab).
- Pray for our GMC conference leaders.(opens in new tab)
- Pray for Simon Mufunda, a GMC mediator living in Africa, to assist African nations in disaffiliation from the UMC.
- Pray for African congregations & pastor families who had to vacate properties due to joining the GMC. They need God’s sustaining grace, our prayers and financial support. Learn more about the Wesleyan Global Reach Fund and you can donate here.
- Pray against attacks by radical Muslims who the Devil uses to disrupt and destroy churches and sometimes causes death. The Voice of the Martyrs website has a list of hostile nations and asks for prayer.
- Pray for our General Conference Team led by Rev. Dr. Tom Lambrecht, to be filled with the Holy Spirit as they plan the 2026 General Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa (8/30-9/5, 2026) Pray against the racial division in that nation.
- Pray for African congregations & pastor families in various GMC Conferences that are forming. Some have faced violence, hardships & injustice. GMC support for congregations is being sent.
