Clergy

Appointment Process

Whether you’re clergy or a congregation, you’ve come to right place to begin the process for an appointment. Read through our protocols so that you know what to expect.

Interview Preparation

To bring together the right fit, values, & style in an appointment, we recommend using the “Pastor Core Competencies & Dimensions” as a guide for both the congregation & clergy person.

Discover Our Districts

Review areas across the MidSouth to see our districts and connect with Presiding Elders. This can help you navigate the appointment process & make connections.

Clergy Transfer into the GMC

Are you a clergy member from another denomination & interested in joining the GMC? You can begin this process by completing this online form.

MIDSOUTH CHURCH OPENINGS

Connecting Clergy & Congregations

Important: Clergy Please Read! The Global Methodist Church uses an appointment system to place pastors at churches. Ultimately, all appointments are made by our bishop, who works in consultation with the conference cabinet.

The list below is maintained for pastors who may be considering a move. Any pastor interested in a particular church should contact the listed presiding elder, and no one else. A pastor contacting a church directly about an opening will not be appointed to that church.

Pastors interested in an appointment need to be in good standing with the Global Methodist Church. In the MidSouth Conference, this means you are already under appointment or approved for appointment by the conference’s Board of Ministry.

If you are expressing interest in a MidSouth church but are a member of a different GMC conference, please notify your current presiding elder before applying. Your presiding elder will be contacted soon after you contact the MidSouth presiding elder.

All other posted positions, not related to clergy appointment, are open for direct communication and application.

Across the MidSouth Region

The MidSouth region covers Kentucky, Middle & East Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, parts of West Virginia, & some counties in North Georgia.

JOINING THE GMC

Join/Transfer as Clergy

Are you clergy in another denomination with a desire to join the Global Methodist Church? We are glad you are here. This is the application for clergy transfer from another denomination.

Candidates to Ordained Ministry

Are you discerning a call to ministry or helping someone answer the call? We have some resources provided by the Board of Ministry to help candidates, local churches, and pastors as they walk through this journey.

The very first steps in this process are to have been a member of a Global Methodist congregation for at least 1 year and to meet with your local pastor or the Presiding Elder of your church's district. We are here to help you take these next steps!

Take These First 3 Steps for Ordination:

  • 1 Be a Professing Member of a GMC Congregation for at Least 1 Year
Are you looking for a local congregation? Use our church finder tool to find one near you.
  • 2 Connect with Your Local Pastor or the Presiding Elder of Your District
Your pastor or Presiding Elder will be able to guide you through this process of discernment as you respond to the call of ministry.
  • 3 Download the Candidacy Checklist
This checklist will take you through all of the steps of candidacy and keep you on track.
