What does it mean to become an Acts 1:8 Missional Congregation?
As part of the missional movement in the MidSouth, congregations are empowered to connect locally, regionally, internationally, and to the uttermost ends of the earth following the scriptural guidance of Acts 1:8. To qualify, a congregation can apply for the Acts 1:8 Certificate with the following three criteria:

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS! May 21 is the deadline for churches to submit an Acts 1:8 Church renewal or application to be recognized at the 2026 Annual Conference Gathering, June 7-9.
Be an Acts 1:8 Missional Congregation
Apply online and take your next steps as a church following after the commands of the Great Commission.
APPLICATION DEADLINE IS MAY 21, 2026, for recognition as an Acts 1:8 Congregation at the June 7-9 Annual Conference gathering. Applications will still be accepted after this date, and will be recognized at the annual conference in 2027.
To Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the Ends of the Earth:
Beyond the Local Church
‘Jerusalem ministries’ reach out beyond the walls of the local church building to bring the Gospel to the unreached.
Across the Region
‘Judea ministries’ are often collaborative efforts of multiple churches to bring the Gospel to the unreached.
Out Into the World
‘Samaria ministries’ are the active prayer and support for at least one GMC missional ministry, partner, or missionary.
To the Outer Edges
‘Uttermost ministries’ provide active support and prayers focused on a unreached people group or a 10/40 window nation.

We have four missional partnerships to provide training & resources for church multiplication, evangelism, and disciple-making.
Mozambique
In addition to these training resources, we are coming alongside the Mozambique Annual Conference in financial assistance for...
- Helping the Conference Superintendent, Zaqueu Silva Ranchaze, in international travel to visit MidSouth congregations as part of our mission partnership.
- Sharing in the cost of constructing modest church buildings to replace those lost by the pastors and churches after disaffiliation which is beyond their own ability bear.
- Offering care and assistance to a nation in the midst of civil war as our brothers and sisters face those challenges and dangers.
Central Europe
In addition to these training resources, we are coming alongside the Central Europe Annual Conference in financial assistance for...
- Helping the Conference Superintendent, Gabi Kopas, and other Central Europe GMC pastors in international travel to visit MidSouth congregations as part of our mission partnership.
- Sharing in the cost of repairing old church buildings that need structural work to be done that is beyond their own ability to bear.

Western Pacific
In addition to these training resources, we are coming alongside the Western Pacific Annual Conference in financial assistance for...
- Helping the Conference Superintendent, Mark Maddox, to visit MidSouth congregations as part of our mission partnership.
- Assisting travel expenses for their Conference Superintendent to visit congregations across the expansive geographical area of the Conference covering California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Alaska, and Hawaii. The cost of travel is beyond their own ability to bear.

Nile River Valley
The MidSouth has been invited to help bridge a connection with the emerging Nile River Valley Annual Conference. This is exciting news—evidence that God is on the move!
- Support 40 Methodist churches in the region as they come together.
- Assist the leadership of this region to form an annual conference.
- Renew connections with the mission in Yei for a partnership of love and faith.
- Spread the Gospel across their communities.

ENGAGE Mission Training: God’s Heart & Our Role for Carrying Out Acts 1:8 Missions
At an ENGAGE Mission training, pastors, lay leaders, mission teams, & church members of all ages join together to:
Interested in hosting an ENGAGE Mission Training at your church?
The first step is to contact your Presiding Elder! From there, all materials needed for the training are provided to the local church, equipping you to share these resources with your congregants and others in your region. The MidSouth also provides online promotions and registration for your event to spread the word across your church and the conference.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
