MidSouth Response to Hurricane Francine

Rev. Todd Chancey, the MidSouth Conference Connectional Coordinator, was on a Zoom meeting this morning with the Disaster Relief Committee leaders from several Annual Conferences in the Global Methodist Church. Hurricane Francine hit parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. At the time of the Zoom meeting, over 450,000 homes were without power. The center of the storm seems to be around Morgan City, Kenner, and Houma in the state of Louisiana. With deliberations early this morning, evaluations are still being made as to next steps.
Rev. Terry Lindsey, Disaster Relief Coordinator from the Trinity Annual Conference, lives near Houma, Louisiana and he will keep the GMC posted on future needs and work team coordination. Over 100 homes in Kenner, Louisiana have been flooded with a church building in Morgan City having lost its roof (currently unsure if it is a church affiliated with the GMC). Please be in prayer for those effected by the storm and the aftermath of the clean-up. We will keep the MidSouth congregations up-to-date as help is needed and in what capacity.
Local churches who may want to get involved with the clean-up or financial support, please contact Rev. Todd Chancey at tchancey@midsouthgmc.org and he will get you in touch with the coordinators in the areas charged with reporting needs.
