The West Virginia District will be hosting a “Lay Ministry Academy” September 16 – 20, at Revelation Fellowship GMC, 2807 Murdoch Avenue Parkersburg, WV 26101.
The courses will be taught by a variety of instructors, everyone is welcome for the opening worship service on Monday evening, whether taking courses or not. An individual attending the full week would be able to complete the 5 required basic courses for CLM and would subsequently only need to complete one additional specialty course. (Our District team is beginning to work on plans for a shorter spring academy during which 2 or 3 specialty courses will be offered in the district during Spring 2026). While we envision students being able to use this academy to work through all 5 required courses in one week, we certainly welcome and encourage students who need less than all 5 to sign up for just the course or courses they need.
Cost: Registration fee is $30 per course, capped at a total of $90 for the week per student (ie: 4th and 5th courses are free)
Lunch will be provided on-site each day by one of the District churches.

For each required book, with the exception of the Book of Doctrines and Discipline, the student will write a reflection paper (1.5 – 3 pages, 12 pt font, double spaced) giving a short synopsis of the reading, and describing what stood out to them from the material, things they learned, and/or questions that were raised, and how they see the material as applicable to their service as a CLM. The student should bring this paper to class with them to submit to the instructor or email it ahead of time in Word or PDF format. Students needing additional time to complete the reading and writing assignment should contact their instructor, or the Academy Director (Daniel Fulton) ahead of time.
