Harvest

Early and late harvest

Annabelle and I have enjoyed and sweated over the planting, tending, and harvesting from our backyard raised gardens. When we lived in Pennsylvania, we had a rather short growing season compared to our Kentucky longer season. This year the summer was drier than usual, so we made sure the two garden beds got regular water. We did our part including praying for the planted seeds to grow well. By September and October, we are cleaning up after the last harvest. To our surprise we found a beauty of a cucumber under the leaves. What I began to realize is that the Lord, who is the giver of life and all that sustains it, grants us what we need and the harvest at the end of the season is just as good as at the beginning. God is indeed good, always!

Comparing this analogy to the Global Methodist Church is easy. Our intercessors in every part of the globe have stood in the gap, prayed people out of tough civil court  situations, pleaded for an awakening, received visions and prophetic words of wisdom to encourage the church and praised God when miracles happened and prayers were answered to bless the GMC movement. We are a praying church with the goal of every church being a “House of Prayer.” Our prayers have made hard ground fallow and opened doors of opportunity that only God could do. Do I hear an Amen?

We have witnessed the birth of a new Wesleyan Methodist Spirit Filled Church and believe that we will be a part of a wonderful harvest of new believers into the kingdom of God late in the harvest season. The new harvest will be as wonderful and glorious as the fist harvest in the first century after Jesus rose from the dead. Yet, we must not slow down in our prayer and fasting efforts because Satan knows that his time is short and will work overtime to stop any life-giving move of God. Let’s go bring in the harvest.

For the awakening,
Rev. Dale R. Shunk, GMC Senior Elder
