Global Episcopacy Committee Announces Bishop Assignment for the MidSouth Annual Conference

by Rev. Dr. Mike Powers • Published Monday, October 28, 2024

Welcome Bishop Kenneth Levingston!
The Global Methodist Episcopacy Committee announced today that Bishop Kenneth Levingston will be assigned to the MidSouth Annual Conference effective November 1, 2024. Bishop Levingston was elected as one of six interim bishops elected at the Convening General Conference of the GMC last month in San Jose, Costa Rica. Bishop Levingston has served as the Senior Pastor of Jones Memorial ‘The Higher Way’ Church in Houston, Texas for the past 16 years. Eighteen months ago he extended his ministry to include two small congregations in communities 50 miles outside of Houston. Those attending General Conference were blessed by his passionate, Spirit-filled preaching as all were inspired to “live like we belong to Jesus.” Bishop Levingston’s life and ministry reflect his heartfelt conviction that “living a higher way” means submitting one’s self to loving and serving others. He and his wife of 29 years, Shanda Kaye, have two children, Brittany and Ke’Andra. Of our eight bishops in the GMC now serving 36 annual conferences around the world, Bishop Scott Jones and Bishop Mark Webb will continue to serve full-time. Our other six bishops, including Bishop Levingston, will continue their current ministries and serve part-time as our episcopal leaders. Bishop Levingston’s assignment to this itinerant ministry includes the Mid-Texas and Panama Annual Conferences as well as the GMC development in Peru.
We look forward to welcoming Bishop Levingston and his family to the MidSouth Annual Conference and partnering with him in our Kingdom work of making disciples of Jesus Christ and spreading scriptural holiness across our streets and around the world.
