Sherry and I praise God for the opportunity to worship and celebrate Easter again this year in the Spirit-filled fellowship of our brothers and sisters in the Global Methodist Church. Your joy in the Lord is contagious, liberating, and desperately needed in homes and neighborhoods across the world. Your love for all God loves is transforming lives, families, churches and communities. The late Sheldon Vanauken wrote, “The best argument for Christianity is Christians: their joy, their certainty, their completeness. When Christians are somber, joyless, self-righteous, smug, narrow, repressive – Christianity dies a thousand deaths.” Thank you, Church, for being a witness of saving and sanctifying grace: God doing for us what we cannot do for ourselves.

Our prayer for you through the heartbreak of Holy Week and the exuberance of Easter Sunday is that each of you will be filled with the resurrection power of Jesus Christ and generously share hope to the hopeless, strength to the faltering, love to the lonely, honesty to the untruthful, healing to the broken, comfort to the suffering, peace to the grieving, faith to the unbelieving, redeeming grace to the sin-sick soul. With the assurance of his Presence, may you and your loved ones be blessed and comforted and transformed into courageous, Spirit-filled and Spirit-led disciples who obediently follow our Risen Lord every day, doing all the good you can, in all the ways you can, to all the souls you can, in every place you can, at all times you can, with all the zeal you can, as long as ever you can, for the sake of his Kingdom that will never end and the love that will never be exhausted.

Thank you, Easter People, for being God’s love letter to the world.
