MidSouth Announcement

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

After much prayer and several conversations with Sherry I have informed Bishop Kenneth Levingston that I have decided to retire from the position of Conference Superintendent of the MidSouth Annual Conference effective June 30, 2025. There is no end to this work which I have embraced every day over the past two years with great joy and untiring devotion, but I sense that I have accomplished the task I was asked to do in organizing an annual conference in this region. The MidSouth Conference is fully operational, adequately funded, and growing in its devotion to making disciples of Jesus locally and globally. Participating in the formation and leadership of this Conference has been one of the greatest honors of my life and ministry. Thank you all for your prayers and partnership in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Per ¶607 of The Book of Doctrines and Discipline of the Global Methodist Church, Conference Superintendents are elders who are appointed by the bishop, after consultation with the annual conference connectional council, the annual conference superintendency committee, and the cabinet with the consent of the annual conference connectional council. Conference Superintendents serve an initial term of six years and may be extended annually for up to twelve total years of service. It is important to allow adequate time for Bishop Levingston to consult with these groups as he prayerfully and collaboratively considers the appointment of a new Conference Superintendent. In the meantime, I will continue to praise God every morning for the privilege of sharing the journey with Jesus with you. Together, let us renew our covenant to pray daily for one another to be more devoted to making disciples of Jesus Christ and spreading scriptural holiness in our homes, within our churches, across our streets, throughout the MidSouth, and around the world.

To God be the glory. The best is yet to come!
Mike

The MidSouth Conference extends sincere gratitude to Mike and Sherry Powers for their service to the formation of this annual conference and surrounds them with full joy as they take next steps in their faithful journey as disciples for the kingdom. Thank you, Mike and Sherry Powers! We look forward to these next months with you and continuing to celebrate you both. You are dearly loved.
