A Thank You from Rev. Dr. Mike Powers

by Rev. Dr. Mike Powers • Published Wednesday, June 25, 2025

Dear Friends and Colleagues in Christ,
I want to thank you and all the clergy and laity of the MidSouth Annual Conference for the wonderful tribute on Wednesday at the annual conference, the many kind comments you have shared with me personally, and the generous love gift I received, too. I am greatly honored and touched by your love and thoughtful gestures. Sherry and I will reinvest this gift into the life and ministry of our Conference as God leads. Partnering with you for the sake of Christ and all He loves has been our joy, and having this opportunity to continue sharing in the Lord’s work is deeply satisfying.Â
Thank you for trusting me with this role and these responsibilities in the early days of the MidSouth Annual Conference. Thank you for laying the foundation of our Conference upon the faithfulness of God, trust in one another, and transparency in all matters. Thank you for your uncompromising commitment to holy conferencing, what “seems good to the Holy Spirit and to us.” And thank you, as devoted Methodist believers, for seeking the more excellent way of scriptural holiness, which John Wesley explained as “the loving of God with all our heart and soul, and our neighbor as ourselves. It is love governing the heart and life, running through all our tempers, words, and actions.”  I have no doubt God will honor such devotion, humility and obedience to His glory and the blessing of many. “This is the way, walk in it.”   Isaiah 30:21
Your servant and His,
